With the retirement of the Space Shuttle seven years ago, the United States has been dependent on it Russian partner for access to the Space Station. Later this year, a new generation of American built and launched spacecraft will begin flying. We’ll discuss why this program is different, and how it creates a model for spaceflight the future.

Frank O’Brien has been volunteering at InfoAge since 2003, and is a Solar System Ambassador for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is the author of a very successful book on the Apollo Guidance Computer, and gives monthly lectures on all aspects of spaceflight.
